Group

The 7th Plymouth Scout Group has a Group Scout Leader who is responsible for the Scouting activities for all three sections.

The Group also has an Executive Committee which is responsible for organising fund raising events, maintaining the property and others assets owned by the Group, and assisting the GSL and Section Leaders in their running of the Group and Sections. The Executive Committee has a Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary and elected members. The GSL and Section leaders are Ex Officio members of the Committee.

The Group organises a duck race each year. This race is usually held at Magpie bridge (near Tavistock) in June or July and is a major contributor to the Group funds. A barbecue is usually arranged for this event and all Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and their friends and relations are invited to attend.

A Christmas extravaganza is also arranged by the Group with each of the individual sections providing festive entertainment for parents and friends of the Group. Refreshments are organised by the Group and a raffle is held to raise funds.

The Group headquarters is available for use by individuals and organisations when it is not required for Scouting activities. Due to its distance from surrounding houses, it is a popular venue for bands, who use it for practice. Music tuition also takes place in the HQ. It is also a suitable venue for birthday parties and discos. Visiting Scout/Guide organisations also sometimes use the headquarters for overnight stays/sleepovers when in the Plymouth area. The headquarters has full kitchen/toilet facilities and can be booked via the Hall Booking secretary. A voluntary donation to the Group from those using the hall is appreciated (currently the suggested voluntary donation is £20 for a morning or afternoon or evening).

The Group also owns a set of 100 plastic ducks (each duck is 4 inches high) for use in duck races. Each duck is individually numbered and the set is available to be borrowed by organisations such as school PTFAs or other Scout/Guide Groups. A voluntary donation to the Group from those borrowing our ducks is appreciated (currently the suggested voluntary donation is £10).

The 7th Plymouth Scout Group is a Registered Charity (Registration Number 266771).
